Dear Editor:

It is all about balance.

Youth is always important and needs support and nurturing, but Osoyoos has a large senior community and we must look after them as well.

Many of the seniors in Osoyoos have pets that are extremely important to their quality of life. A large number of seniors love and enjoy their four-legged companions, but have mobility issues, which do not allow them the freedom of taking their pets for long walks. What can they do?

They can and do take advantage of the off-leash dog park built for them by their fair thinking and concerned town council.

This park is not something to be bargained with. This is an important part of our community. It is a godsend for many dog-loving seniors. It is a social gathering for many seniors and families.

This is, yes, a “Five Star” off-leash dog park. It is in place. It is well used. It is necessary.

It must not be taken away.

Remember, balance and quality of life for all.
