Times-Chronicle
Forget the pandemic, let’s wallow in some good news for a change. Yes, we know, good news doesn’t sell, but it warms the heart.
Let’s start with a Coquitlam Mountie who was in the middle of writing a traffic ticket when she noticed a man walking by with no shoes.
She later tracked him down to ensure he was okay. The man told her he was trying to get home to Mount Currie, but since he lost his shoes, he was in pain from using an old sweatshirt on his feet.
The officer said she would buy him a pair of shoes from a second-hand store. He accepted, and subsequently agreed to go to the hospital to get checked out for a variety of medical issues.
The officer did not tell anyone about the incident, but her supervisor found out and shared it.
Now that’s a wellness check if we ever heard one.
Closer to home, Paws & Claws Animal Rescue and its supporters gave Miss Amelia (a cat) a new lease on life. The poor little feline needed surgery to remove a deformed eye, so people scraped up enough money to get it done.
After some treatment, Miss Amelia found the perfect home in the arms of a doctor and nurse. Even though she’s only got one eye, that’s all Miss Amelia needs to see how much she is loved.
(If you say that’s a sappy ending, we’ll cut your subscription off, LOL.)
And now the tear-jerker with a stupendous happy ending.
Before a mother died of cancer, she made her daughter a teddy bear with a voice – her voice of love that she recorded.
During a move to a new apartment, someone stole “Mama Bear,” which left the daughter sick with grief.
Her plea on social media attracted actor Ryan Reynolds, who put up $5,000 for the bear’s return.
One night the daughter received an email from someone who indicated they had the bear. Subsequently, two Good Samaritans showed up at the meeting place and took Mama Bear out of a bag. The daughter nearly crumpled to the floor in disbelief.
Apparently, the Samaritans saw the security footage that the woman posted online and recognized the thief. They tracked him down and got Mama Bear back from him.
Now the daughter can listen to her mother’s voice again and know that she is still there.
Hand me that box of Kleenex, will you?
