A “South Okanagan Golf Trail” project is being proposed, and the Town of Oliver is being asked to support it.
Last week council addressed a letter from Martin Cattermole, president of Fairview Mountain Golf Course.
Cattermole said that Fairview Mountain, Nk’Mip and Osoyoos golf clubs have seized upon an opportunity to have Score Golf produce a nationally televised show on the “South Okanagan Golf Trail.”
The show will not only focus on golf courses, but will touch on tourism vacation opportunities in the area.
Cattermole said the exposure will increase golf tourism and benefit the Town of Oliver and surrounding businesses.
“I believe this can be a win/win for all parties,” he pointed out.
The cost to produce the show is $15,000, and Cattermole is seeking partners to help distribute these costs.
Council has advised Cattermole to submit a grant-in-aid application with the desired amount.
Town staff has also forwarded the request to the Oliver Tourism Association.
