The Oliver Arena upgrade project is receiving big funding to modernize the facility.
New Democrat MLA Roly Russell made the announcement on Tuesday, noting the upgrades will make the arena more accessible and energy efficient.
The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen is receiving $2.1 million in provincial funding, along with $130,000 in federal funding for the rehabilitation. This will include upgrades to the cooling system, rink dasher boards, washrooms, and change rooms. The regional district is also contributing $838,865 to the project.
“These upgrades modernize and improve the arena for our local residents, but they will also ensure that families from afar will see how great of a place to live the South Okanagan is,” Russell said.
