They came, played golf, enjoyed a lot of laughs, got plenty of sunshine and generally had a wonderful time while doing it all.

A full field of 144 golfers from all over British Columbia – and several from outside the province – came to the Osoyoos Golf Club this past weekend to participate in the 15th Annual Ladies Amateur Scramble.

After two days of stellar play, the winning team ended up being from Mission, B.C. Members of the winning team included Belinda Steckler, Lara Plummer, Kathy Brooks, and Patti Traquair.  This is their first year playing in the tournament.

A local team from the Osoyoos Golf Club finished in second place.

Team members included Cindy Simms, Sue McEvoy, Diana Thomas and Darlene Herbert.

The tournament hosted 144 women, making up 36 teams.

The players played the Desert Gold Course on Saturday and the Park Meadows course on Sunday.

The total low net score determined the winners.  Of the 36 teams that participate, 18 teams took home prizes.

The tournament has become one of the highlights of the year for female members at the club and the ladies scramble is sure to continue for many years to come, said tournament organizer Pat Wycherley.
