The Osoyoos town flag is flying at half-mast in honour of former mayor Stu Wells who has died.

Osoyoos Mayor Sue McKortoff said Council was informed on Tuesday, June 17 that Wells had died after being warded in Kelowna General Hospital for a few weeks.

Wells was a town councillor before being elected mayor for two terms from 2008-2014. Wells had also been a school trustee and former chair of the Okanagan Basin Water Board (OBWB).

“Stu was a strong volunteer in the South Okanagan for many years, having lived here most of his life, said McKortoff. He was a strong supporter of Osoyoos, and often said, “There is no soy in Osoyoos!” He wanted it pronounced correctly!”
The Times Chronicle will update as more details become available.
