Highway 3, is closed in both directions from Wednesday (Dec. 1) afternoon as a result of flooding between Taylor Way and Old Hedley Rd for 26.7 km (3.0 km east of Princeton to 6.0 km west of Hedley), according to DriveBC.

An assessment is in progress with a small traffic detour available via Old Hedley Road. DriveBC highlights that no detour is available for commercial vehicle traffic.

The next update will occur Thursday, Dec. 2 at 9:00 AM.

This most recent closure follows from the last of three atmospheric rivers that have hit southwestern B.C. over the last week.

Following assessments and clean-up after the second weather event over the weekend, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure reopened Hwy 3 on Monday afternoon, Nov. 29.

Hwy 3 between Hope and Princeton is open for essential travel only. Due to ongoing cleanup and repairs, drivers can expect delays on this section of Highway 3.
