Dear Editor:
Having canvassed many of the prospective voters for the upcoming municipal election for the Osoyoos mayor and four candidates, I am pleased to announce that I have looked in my glass ball, and done the appropriate dance with the waving of the hands and fancy steps and concluded that the following are my predictions:
It is my opinion that mayor successor will most probably be Sue McKortoff being re-elected with a possible 80 per cent (give or take a percentage or two, not a 100 per cent clear in the glass ball) of the votes, and Doug Pederson with the possibility of the remaining 20 per cent (give or take a percentage or two).
It was hard to see clearly, with smoke that we’ve had over the summer, to assess what the possible outcome would be with all the very capable candidates pursuing the councillors’ positions, but I believe that the following may be a good possibility.
The four successful candidates earning between 14 to 16 per cent of the electoral votes, and the remaining candidates getting the remaining approximately 40 per cent starting with 8%, 8%, 7% , 6%, 4%, 4%, 4% respectively.
I believe that the split between those who succeed and those who do not for the councillors’ position being at least 5 per cent difference.
I beg you all to turn out on voting day, Oct. 20, to see if my glass ball is actually correct.
Jean Clarke,
Osoyoos, B.C.
