Firefighters investigating call at SOGH

Oliver firefighters are trying to determine what caused a sprinkler to activate at South Okanagan General Hospital late this afternoon.

Crews were called to the hospital for a general fire alarm at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Fire Chief Bob Graham said the call appeared to be related to a sprinkler system.

Radio transmissions indicated that crews were investigating the McKinney wing. No fire or smoke was visible at the time.

Firefighters were tasked to go from room to room to isolate where the sprinkler was activated and why. At one point they were checking the attic area.

The latest word was that a sprinkler system reset had to be conducted before firefighters could leave the scene.
