Oliver firefighters have called for mutual aid from Osoyoos and Okanagan Falls to help protect homes that are threatened by encroaching flames from the Nk’Mip Creek fire.

Local crews responded to a residential area off McKinney Road east of Oliver to protect structures. It was reported that the fire jumped a guard and was advancing, however, no further information is available.

Manpower is stretched as both Okanagan Falls and Willowbrook could not immediately send crews for mutual aid.

The flare-up is causing additional smoke in the area.
