A fiery, two-vehicle crash on Hwy 3 west of Osoyoos on July 2 kept firefighters and forestry crews busy for several hours.
Just before 5 pm, Osoyoos RCMP responded to a collision between a transport truck and a logging truck near Spotted Lake. Police say the transport truck ignited and the fire spread to the logging truck and the surrounding grassland, threatening one residence.
Forestry crews managed to extinguish the blaze before it could spread beyond control.
The transport truck driver, a 46-year-old Kelowna man, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Kelowna General Hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash, but alcohol is not suspected.
The highway was closed for several hours as emergency crews mitigated the fire and cleared the wreckage.
