Hwy. 3 at the Osoyoos Trestle Bridge will be closed to all traffic on Thursday, March 31 for four hours from 1-5 a.m. to enable final repairs and safety checks prior to fully reopening.
Emergency vehicles will be allowed to cross at any point during the closure. It won’t be a full closure however as all other traffic will be provided the ability to cross at hourly intervals while the work is being completed.
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure says the closure is to “ensure that the final repairs to the deck are completed in a safe manner and at a time that will be the least impactful to traffic flow.”
The Ministry anticipates this will be the final stage of the project, and once completed the bridge deck will be opened to full traffic movement by end of day Thursday, March 31, it said.
Rehabilitative work on the west approach to the bridge began on March 21 with single alternating lanes from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Up-to-date information on the closure can be found on DriveBC.
