Sixty-three land owners in Area C can breathe a sigh of relief now that their properties have been taken off evacuation order in the Nk’Mip Creek wildfire.
The regional district has announced the rescinding of the orders east of Oliver in the Shrike Hill area. These include McCuddy Creek Road, Porcupine Place, McKinney Road, Old Camp McKinney Road and Shrike Hill Road.
Due to the continued threat of fire and potential to expand back into this area, the regional district says these properties are still under evacuation alert, meaning residents must be prepared to evacuate immediately if necessary.
The fire is still classified as out of control at more than 16,000 hectares.
