OSOYOOS TIMES-September 8, 2010
You’ve got to hand it to John Kapusty, Randy Bedard and Roy Schultz, the trio responsible for bringing junior hockey back to Osoyoos.
Seeing the Coyotes play their first games ever at the Sun Bowl Arena this past weekend was a great experience and the fans who came out to cheer the team on showed their appreciation for the work that has been carried out to bring a Kootenay International Junior Hockey League franchise back to Osoyoos.
The arena looks terrific and it’s a credit to Coyotes’ management, and to this community, that the ice, boards and arena walls are covered with professional-looking and attractive advertisements and messages of support.
The presentation factor alone for the Coyotes’ home base is worthy of the NHL.
And the budding team came out in fine form this past weekend with a squad bursting with promising talent.
The Coyotes’ coaching staff are obviously working just as hard as the three men striving to make this a viable and enduring franchise.
In the past several years, there was a feeling in the air here in town that something was missing from the community.
Having a junior hockey club in Osoyoos headed by people who have shown, and are showing, that they want to create a professional and enjoyable hockey experience in this community has filled a void.
It’s pretty easy to get excited while thinking about all the possibilities the future holds for our new, young hockey team.
