The Osoyoos Storm's win a result of a classy organization
The Osoyoos Storm won the Cyclone Taylor Cup last Sunday.
It is a remarkable feat for any team, but even more remarkable considering the short period of time that has passed since the fledgling Storm were created to save junior hockey in Osoyoos.
To call the organization a success is a major, major understatement. It is hugely successful, and the etching of their names on the Cyclone Taylor Cup is a just reward for the hard work and dedication put in by both the players and the management.
But it is more than the win that determines why this organization is successful, or should be viewed as successful by the whole community.
Yes, winning creates all sorts of positive feelings, but the Storm weren't always winning and yet they have always been front and centre in this community. In their eyes, asking for the community's support, also meant giving it in return.
The Osoyoos Storm were easily the class act of the KIJHL. That continued through to the Cyclone Taylor Cup.
These young men carried themselves with dignity and respect and they deserve a lot of credit for their accomplishment.
The coaching staff and the management have also shown that you can win and be successful and still maintain integrity and credibility. Winning doesn't have to mean it is all about winning.
We tip our hats to the entire Osoyoos Storm organization for winning the provincial championship, but we are just as proud to have this team as our home team because of how they went about winning the Cyclone Taylor Cup.
Congratulations.
