NOW IS THE TOWN'S CHANCE TO HELP SECURE A KIJHL TEAM
OSOYOOS TIMES-December 3, 2008
It's time for the Town of Osoyoos to find ways to assist in bringing a KIJHL team into the community.
Doing so would not only increase this area's sports and recreation profile, but also help alleviate one problem many permanent residents often bring up, especially around election time:
The lack of activities and entertainment in Osoyoos in the fall, winter and spring after 5 p.m.
Having a KIJHL team return to Osoyoos might just be enough to get those who crowd around their televisions on a Saturday night, or worse yet, travel to other towns and cities to spend their time and money, out to games where the community could bond and rally around a local sports club.
A semi-professional team at the Sun Bowl Arena could mean revenues for the Town and opportunities for businesses to advertise or become more involved in the community.
There are rumours abound that wheels are turning within the league and Osoyoos has a real shot at getting a team.
And there's word people within this community are working to help secure that opportunity.
The Town needs to get behind such an idea with more than just vocal support.
