IT'S HARD NOT TO SAY THAT THE RELAY FOR LIFE WAS INSPIRING

OSOYOOS TIMES-June 25, 2008

It certainly was an amazing sight to come around the corner of the Desert Park grandstand and look upon the field where scores of people were preparing to take part in the Osoyoos Relay for Life on the evening of June 21.

To see families, friends, well-known community figures and even strangers join forces for a really great cause is a source of inspiration and needs to be celebrated.

Spirits were high and everyone had a great attitude, especially the majority of participants who broke out a cowboy hat or cowboy boots or even a pair of chaps.

And the organization needed to put it all together needs to be commended.

There was never a lull in the entertainment, it would have been hard to find a less-than-full belly and every moment of the 12-hour event appeared to run like clockwork.

In the end, more than $70,000 was raised for the battle against cancer, up from the 2007 total of a little more than $57,000.

If a few hundred people in a small community can come together and do so much good, just think about what could be accomplished if everyone tried to make a difference.
