Don’t eat breakfast at home on July 1 because it’s being served drive-thru style at the Oliver Recreation Centre.

Oliver Parks and Recreation is hosting a special Canada Day breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. with the help of Oliver Fire Department and parks and recreation volunteers.

The event, sponsored by Kevin’s No Frills, will serve up delicious breakfast sandwiches to start the day.

All donations received will be donated to the Osoyoos Indian Band “Right to Play” youth program.

People are encouraged to decorate their vehicles for an opportunity to win prizes. Residents are also invited to swim for free at the Oliver pool from 2:30 to 4 p.m. or from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Pre-registration is recommended since only 50 people are allowed in the pool as per health guidelines. Call 250-498-4985 for more information, or register online at www.oliverrecreation.ca.

Recreation assistant Caitlyn Bennett is reminding people to drive slowly through the main Park Drive entrance while being mindful of vehicles coming and going from the vaccine clinic and the community tennis courts. She noted that all COVID-19 protocols will be followed.

Bennett also reminds residents of Oliver’s 100thanniversary celebration this year. She said Oliver Parks and Recreation is “eager to kick off a series of events and initiatives that celebrate the land we live on and the members of our community that make it so special.”
