By next week, there will be an entirely new staff at Destination Osoyoos (DO) to support a recently chosen new board.

Kelley Glazer starts Monday as the new executive director, replacing Gail Scott, who announced in December that she would be stepping down at the end of April.

Earlier this year, Brianne Hearle, the DO marketing director, left to take a position at Spirit Ridge at Nk’Mip Resort and has been replaced by Darlene Richard.

Finally, Miranda Sparkes, who has handled administration and the front office, is also leaving as of Friday.

DO is a non-profit society that promotes tourism and economic development in Osoyoos. It receives funding from the hotel room tax, the Town of Osoyoos and other sources.

Glazer, who is stepping into Scott’s shoes, has been completing a Master’s degree in Hospitality and Tourism Leadership and Management at Royal Roads University in Victoria.

She’s also been a self-employed consultant with KG Consulting since 2007, working with clients in the tourism and hospitality industry, according to her résumé.

Prior to that, she worked as executive director for a destination marketing organization in Prince Albert, SK, and held sales and marketing positions in tourism and hospitality with companies in Victoria.

Scott, 67, said she found the position didn’t leave her enough time to sufficiently use her skills in economic development and she wanted to spend more time with family and friends, travelling and pursuing her “bucket list.”

DO held its annual general meeting April 5, where it chose its new board of directors and executive.

Rob Rausch, owner of WakePilot, is the new chair, replacing Don Brogan, general manager of the Walnut Beach Resort.

The new vice chair is Paul Scanlon of the Watermark Beach Resort. That position is also responsible as chair of the Governance and Nominations Committee.

The treasurer remains Peter Bueschkens of Safari Beach Resort, who is also chair of the Finance Committee.

The Economic Development Advisory Committee is chaired by Martin Connolly, representing the Town of Osoyoos, and the Marketing Advisory Committee is chaired by Brogan.
