As wildfires erupt throughout the Okanagan and Similkameen valleys, Desert Park is once again offering to board affected animals at no charge.
“If concerned horse owners can transport their horses to us, we’ll gladly board them,” said Bruce Fuller, president of the Desert Park Exhibition Society. “While they do not have to pay for the stalls, they are responsible for feed and bedding.”
Desert Park has horse barns that are used for boarding of horses from the prairies when they train here in the winter.
“As well our barns will also be made available for donkeys, mules and unicorns,” Fuller adds.
Those interested in boarding their horses through the wildfire risk can contact Desert Park at 250-495-8181.
Desert Park took in some animals during the floods this spring and in previous years they’ve made boarding available to those affected by wildfires.
