Eric Daoust from Oliver will have his days in court this summer relating to a car-bombing incident five months ago.
The 23-year-old previously pleaded not guilty to placing an explosive device to damage property. In this case, a home-made bomb was placed under a car in an alleyway behind Earle Crescent in August of 2013. The bomb damaged the vehicle and a nearby garage, but nobody was injured.
Eric’s 19-year-old brother, Stephan Daoust, was already sentenced for the crime – 90 days in jail on weekends and two years’ probation. The sentence also related to an incident involving bear spray being discharged in the Earle Crescent home.
According to police, the brothers have a longstanding dispute with a young man who lives at the targeted residence.
Eric’s four-day trial is slated to begin August 25 in the Penticton courthouse.
