The Osoyoos Coyotes continue their outstanding start to the season with three more victories last week to stretch their season-opening win streak to seven games.
The Coyotes remain undefeated after squeaking out wins over Kelowna and Kamloops and soundly beating 100 Mile House.
The Coyotes edged the Kelowna Chiefs 5-4 at the Sun Bowl Arena last Wednesday, coming back from a two-goal deficit.
On Friday evening, they easily beat the 100 Mile House Wranglers, taking a 4-0 lead before allowing one Wranglers goal late in the third period.
Saturday night’s game in Kamloops saw no scoring in the first two periods and only one goal for each team in the third.
Colten Braid scored his second goal of the night in the second overtime period to give the Coyotes a 2-1 win.
In Wednesday’s game in Osoyoos, Troy Maclise scored just past the midway point in the first period to break the Chiefs’ 2-0 lead.
Within about five minutes, the Coyotes followed up with goals by Jackson Glimpel and Daniel Stone to end the period with a 3-2 lead.
The Chiefs came back to tie it twice in the second period, but with a goal by Brett Jewell, the Coyotes were able to hang onto a 4-4 tie going into the final period.
Early in the third period, Rainer Glimpel put the winning goal past Chiefs’ goalie Chris Turner.
In Friday night’s game at 100 Mile House, Luc Gradisar scored the first three goals for the Coyotes, two of them on power plays.
Rookie Colin Bell added the fourth goal for the Coyotes.
With a goal Wednesday and assists on Wednesday and Friday, Rainer Glimpel has pulled ahead of his teammates and leads the team in scoring with 14 points in seven games.
Braid and Gradisar both have nine points and have moved ahead of Jackson DeMatos, who was the top scorer before he was sidelined with injuries.
Heading into October, the Coyotes were hosting the Princeton Posse Wednesday night at the Sun Bowl.
They play Friday night in Sicamous before returning on Saturday to host the Revelstoke Grizzlies.
All Coyotes games at the Sun Bowl Arena start at 7:35 p.m.
