Ashley Zeuch lost her mother in 2017 and used meditation as a “tool to manage grief.” It is the healing from that loss that inspired Zeuch to organize a guided community meditation.
The event, taking place at the Sonora Centre, next week, is for both beginners and experienced meditators or for anyone wanting to “experience peace of mind, harmony, and healing in a collective setting.”
Zeuch, who is currently studying for her meditation teacher certification, said that donating the proceeds from the event to the Desert Valley Hospice Society is a way to show her gratitude for the “generous and meaningful work” that they do.
She said she is excited to “embark on a journey in life as a meditation teacher.”
Zeuch said that other than tranquility, meditation benefits include better sleep and lower blood pressure.

While meditation is usually a solitary experience, group meditation allows its adherents to feel a sense of support and encouragement that they may not get when meditating alone.
There are many ways to meditate but Zeuch said that through guided meditation her intention is “to create space for people to connect with their inner stillness through comfortable silence.”
She described this style of meditation as being associated with stress management and said that everyone can benefit from it – regardless of who they are or what their lifestyle is.
The guided community meditation will take place Jan. 31 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in room 4 at the Sonora Centre. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. Chairs will be provided.
A donation of $20 is required.
