It was freezing outside but the spirit inside was heartwarming at the 19th annual Christmas dinner in Oliver on Dec. 18.
Shiela Lange from Oliver Alliance Church reported more than 200 people were served at the community centre last Sunday.
In addition to the 200 meals, volunteers gave another 70 out for people to take home or deliver to others in need.
“We also had a wonderfully large pile of warm socks, gloves and hats as gifts that were much appreciated,” Lange said.
She added they were able to deliver some baked goods to the cold weather shelter in town.
Lange thanked the Oliver businesses that donated towards the cost of the event, and to Parks and Rec for the use of the hall.
She said there were so many volunteers willing to help, including the Rotary Club.
“It truly is the season for giving and extending love.”
