A two-km. swim in Lake Okanagan, a 180-km. bike ride through the South Okanagan, and a 42-km. run to the finish line.
That’s what competitors in the Challenge Penticton Ironman event had to contend with Sunday. Oh, there was also the heat, and rolling thunder heard in the hills east and west of Oliver.
The cycling portion of the event made it’s way past EZ Fuel at the north end of Oliver, and through town, with a Buy Low Foods station located in front of Town Hall, affording competitors the opportunity to replenish themselves.
Jeff Symonds of Penticton won the event for the second-straight year.
