Imagine driving down the highway and suddenly your camper breaks free from your hitch and overturns in an orchard?
That’s exactly what happened to a young couple this afternoon on Highway 97 south of Oliver.
Police and firefighters were called to a spot just past Road 18 where a camper lay upside down in someone’s orchard. The driver told the Chronicle that the camper broke free from the hitch on his truck.
Nobody was injured, but the camper sustained damage.
Police on scene were closely inspecting the hitch to determine if it was faulty.
