Building permit value skyrockets to more than $7 million in January
January's building permits hit an amazing $7 million.
There was a time when that total was for the entire year, said Tom Shields at the Feb. 7 public council meeting for the Town of Osoyoos.
In total the building permits taken out in January added up to a whopping $7,573,000.
That is almost triple last year's total of $2,726,333.
The majority of the huge dollar amount came from Sole Vita, one of the new housing developments along Cottonwood Drive.
In fact Sole Vita accounted for more than $6.2 million of the $7.5 million.
The company took out 13 building permits in January, which included permits for 58 units, a recreation building and a civil works building.
Other building permits included a two unit condo for $200,000 by Co-Operators Dev., a modular home valued at $87,000, and two new single family homes valued at $250,000 and $175,000.
Island View RV Resort also had two building permits issued. One for a new building, valued at $350,000, and one for a retaining wall valued at $200,000.
