The first annual Lake Osoyoos Sailing Club Christmas Eve parade lit up the lake with buoyant holiday cheer in Osoyoos Tuesday night.
Organizer Pierre Forand was included in a flotilla of at least ten watercraft lit up Christmas-style touring the lake.
“We would like to give a big thank you to everyone who came out to view, participate and help for this event. The lights shone bright from far,” said Celine Forand.

The event was discussed at the sailing club’s annual general meeting in December and was a bit last minute, and Forand apologized for the last-minute nature of the parade, but the optimism and the turnout have the club already planning for next year.
“Now, we are already taking notes and preparing for next year’s event. We were extremely lucky with the weather, no wind at all for a special light effect reflection on the lake. For next year, we have to prepare for a few scenarios including bad weather and too much wind,” Forand said.
The event included Pierre Forand and Knox on the Hobie 18. Kenny on a Hobie 14. Jeff on a Super Pickle, a laser (dinghy). Donimique and Marise on James Kirk, an Enterprise boat. Jurgen on a laser. Keith, Barb, Jessy, Ali and Nathan on the jet boat “North River.” Ken, Brian, Dave and Jason on Connie. Jim and Marcia, each on a kayak. John and Perry on a 12’ Lund Boat.
