Gallagher Lake residents were treated to a big show today as T&A Rock Works blasted the mountain overlooking the lake.
A huge shelf of rocks came down when the explosive charge was ignited by crews hired by the Town of Oliver to scale the bluff in preparation for repairs to a section of irrigation canal that was damaged last month by falling rock.
The Town and the Kelowna company is working diligently to complete the repairs before irrigation season starts.
Oliver is seeking emergency funding from the province to offset the cost and lessen the impact on farmers.
Blasting and scaling work continues.
