RETAINING WALL OWNER ASKS TOWN FOR STAY ON ORDER TO REMOVE STRUCTURE

A Lobelia Drive resident who was ordered last May to remove a retaining wall on his property is asking the Town for more time to find a way to take down or alter the structure.
In a May 28, 2009, decision, a judge granted the Town of Osoyoos an injunction against Ken Nelmes to remove a five-and-half-metre-high wall on his property bordering Jasmine Drive.

TOWN READY TO LEASE VACANT HEALTH UNIT BUILDING

The Town of Osoyoos is looking for a new tenant or tenants for the former health unit building located beside Town Hall on Main Street.
According to a notice on the Town’s website, proposals to lease the vacant building “for a year to year term for a minimum of two years” will be accepted until 2 p.m. on May 7.

SCHOOL NURTURES YOUNG GREEN THUMBS WITH GARDEN PROJECT

They may wrinkle up their noses while they stir the compost, but Osoyoos Elementary School’s Green Team members are all smiles when they see the beans are starting to sprout in the garden out back of their school.
“Some of it will be ready by the end of June,” said Dean Rowland, a teacher at the school and leader of the Green Team.
