SEVEN JOBS CUT AT RDOS

Over the next six months, seven jobs are going to be axed by the Regional District Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS).
The cutbacks are part of an effort to save taxpayers $470,000 per year, the RDOS announced in a media release sent out on Sept. 20.

LOCAL MOUNTIES SHOW SUPPORT FOR SUPERIORS NAMED IN LAWSUIT

In response to a harassment lawsuit filed earlier this month, several members of the Osoyoos-Oliver RCMP detachment have expressed their admiration and respect for their commanding officers.
Jason and Sasha MacLean, a married couple who worked out of the detachment until earlier this year, filed a suit in British Columbia Supreme Court on Sept. 8 against Staff Sgt. Kurt Lozinski, commander of the detachment, Sgt. Kevin Schur and Cpl. Michael Field.

DESTINATION OSOYOOS, PARTNERS BEGIN DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM MARKETING PLAN

Representatives of the Town of Osoyoos, the Regional District Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS), the NK’MIP Resort Association, the local Tourism Advisory Committee and Destination Osoyoos sat down on Sept. 21 to map out a new tourism marketing strategy for the Osoyoos area.
The day-long brainstorming session at the Spirit Ridge Vineyard Resort was led by Jennifer Houiellebecq, an industry development specialist from the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association, and was meant to kick off the development of a new three-year plan to increase and enhance tourism in Osoyoos.
