AGENTS SEIZE ALLEGED CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AT OSOYOOS BORDER CROSSING

Canada Border Services Agency officers stopped a 50-year-old man from Spokane, Wash., at the Osoyoos port of entry on the evening of Oct. 12 after an officer allegedly found child pornography in the man’s possession.
Cpl. Mike Field, a spokesman for the Osoyoos RCMP, who were called in to assist with the matter, said an agency officer ended up conducting a search when the man was attempting to enter Canada in a vehicle at about 5:10 p.m.

COYOTES STILL UNDEFEATED IN REGULATION PLAY

The Osoyoos Coyotes lost a game to the Kelowna Chiefs in overtime on Oct. 8, but came back strong the next day with a 6-2 win over the Sicamous Eagles – leaving the Osoyoos team the lone KIJHL team yet to suffer a loss in regulation time.
On Oct. 8, Kelowna quickly kicked off the scoring on their home ice, finding the back of the Osoyoos net just 1:16 into the game.

PROVINCE NEEDS TO PROTECT ECOSYSTEMS THAT CROSS BORDERS: STUDY

The B.C. government needs to work harder to protect ecosystems, such as the antelope-brush ecosystem in the Osoyoos area, which cross political boundaries, a recently released study of endangered species in the province states.
On the Edge: British Columbia’s Unprotected Transboundary Species was released by the David Suzuki Foundation, Ecojustice and Conservation Northwest, three environment-focused organizations from Canada and the U.S., in September.
