Yet another “suspicious” fire has been reported in Oliver.
The latest incident was a pickup truck fire this morning at 6:15 a.m. off Black Sage Road and Saddleridge Road.
The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived to quickly extinguish it.
No injuries were reported and no structures were nearby.
Oliver Fire Department spokesman Rob Graham confirmed it was suspicious due to the fact no one was around at the time.
This is the second vehicle fire within two weeks. The first one occurred on School Avenue on March 13. Before that, a garage/workshop fire behind the Oliver Food Bank was deemed suspicious, as was a cannabis store fire on Highway 97 north of town on Feb. 22.
But Graham said there is nothing to indicate that any of these fires are related.
“Until there is concrete proof that these fires have been set by or caused by the same person, we cannot say that there is concern related to an arsonist.”
The Times-Chronicle is awaiting comment from the Oliver RCMP.
