Touring the fire hall and its trucks and competing in a Fire Fit Challenge obstacle course are just some of the things members of the public can look forward to at the Osoyoos Fire Department’s open house Oct. 13.

At the annual event, people will have the opportunity to meet members of the OFD and get a taste of what it is like to be a firefighter by trying on PPE (personal protective equipment).

The department will exhibit their rescue equipment and present demonstrations to educate the public about fire prevention and safety.

October 7-13 is fire prevention week in Canada. The event runs from 1-3 p.m.
