Osoyoos voters will have a chance to hear first hand from municipal candidates next Tuesday, Oct. 9 at an all candidates meeting.

The meeting takes place at the Sonora Community Centre from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

When no local organizations stepped forward to organize the event, the Osoyoos Times stepped forward to get the ball rolling.

“It’s very important that voters have a chance to interact directly with the candidates and pose questions to them,” said Osoyoos Times Editor Richard McGuire.

“There are some excellent new candidates and many voters have not yet had a chance to meet them. We try to provide detailed election coverage on our pages, but sometimes you need to hear them in the flesh to form an impression.”

There are two candidates running for mayor and nine competing for four positions as councillors.

Due to the number of municipal candidates, there won’t be time to include school board candidates, but they’ll be covered in the paper and they are better known.
