The Osoyoos Seniors’ Centre Association has received a $15,000 donation from the Cogir Foundation for a new floor at the Osoyoos Activity Centre.

The association has been running a “Let’s Not Get Floored Campaign” to raise money for a new floor since February this year after the well-used facility’s floor has become extremely worn.

The Cogir Foundation, the charitable arm of Montreal-headquartered Cogir Real Estate, presented the donation to the Association at the centre.

The donation came after a successful application by the association through the seniors stream of the Cogir Foundation.

The $15,000 donation along with individual and user group donations will largely cover the cost of a new laminate floor for the centre.

The Osoyoos Senior Centre Association was established in 1961 and oversees the Osoyoos Activity Centre. An  addition to the original building in 1971 enhanced the facility to  now include an upper reception area, kitchen, event hall, lower meeting room, lower kitchen and pool table area.

The building is leased from the Town of Osoyoos, operated and maintained by OSCA.  The Osoyoos Lawn Bowling Club occupies part of the lower space during the summer months operating and maintaining the bowling green  which is also leased from the Town.
