Knights Hampers Dec. 20Christmas is about celebrating life.
Christmas is about giving and receiving.
Christmas of about smiling faces, and there were plenty of smiles Saturday morning at Christ The King Church in Oliver…from staff and helpers handing out food, to those who would now be enjoying a Christmas dinner thanks to the generosity of many peop0le.

For the 43rd time, Oliver’s Knights of Columbus, with the help of the Oliver Food Bank, operated its Tummy Bag Program.

‘Fill a Bag, Fill a Tummy’, came to a culmination with the distribution of Christmas hampers beginning Saturday morning at 8 a.m.

The Oliver Chronicle was a proud sponsor of this program, which saw close to 100 people drop off bags of food at the Chronicle office alone, along with other locations, such as Super Valu, Buy Low Foods, Shoppers Drug Mart, The Bargain Shop, Dollarama and the Oliver Legion.

All of the food and money collected through donations from individuals, and many Oliver and area businesses, helped the Knights of Columbus assemble more than 200 hampers.

A steady stream came through the Christ The King Church doors Saturday morning, and by about 10:30, half of the hampers had been picked up.

Knights of Columbus members deserve our thanks.

They continue to do great things for the people of this community, helping many residents enjoy Christmas.
