Osoyoos Music in the Park’s wish for $19,000 in funding for its 2020 season – a $4,000 increase from last year’s budget – has been granted.
At its regular meeting on Monday afternoon Osoyoos town council voted to grant the funding ask, provided by the town’s share of the provincial Resort Municipality Initiative hotel tax.
The funding will cover $14,500 for musicians, $1,025 for liability insurance, $2,000 for promotion and $775 for maintaining and improving the Music in the Park website. The group also looks after the community piano at Gyro Park during the summer, costing $700.
The increase in funding will allow the website to include an application form for interested performers, organizers told council.
