Security footage from the Osoyoos RCMP detachment, obtained by the Osoyoos Times, shows a man light the entrance to the station on fire on July 25.
In the footage a male, identified by RCMP as 28-year-old Osoyoos resident Joseph McArthur-Pereira, peers into a window and try the locked door handle of the station, before dousing the doorway and adjacent wall with gasoline and igniting the fire.
McArthur-Pereira has since been charged with arson endangering life and mischief causing danger to life. He made his first appearance in Penticton Provincial Court on July 26, and his next court appearance is scheduled for August 21.
