Local residents will see a lot of familiar faces working at Kevin’s No Frills in Oliver Place Mall in September.
Approximately 50 people will work at the store on the former SuperValu site that closed April 30.
Tammy Smitham, vice-president of external communications for Loblaw Companies Ltd., said many former SuperValu employees have been rehired.
People who are interested in working at the store should inquire directly prior to the opening in early September, she pointed out.
“The new store owner, Kevin Meyer, is very keen to get to know his new customers and become a member of the Oliver community,” Smitham said, noting Meyer will be supporting various community organizations and events in town.
No Frills stores are focused on providing customers with grocery essentials at prices that the company claims “won’t be beat.”
“At No Frills you will not find the extras like costly displays, expensive fixtures, big advertising campaigns or in-store service departments, so we can pass the savings on to our customers with great value,” Smitham said.
No Frills promises that if customers find a cheaper price, they simply have to show the store, which will match that competitive price.
At Kevin’s No Frills customers will find President’s Choice, No Name, and national brand products, as well as precut meat, dairy items, pre-packaged deli items, baked goods and grocery items.
Smitham said the store is currently being renovated to reflect the look and feel of a No Frills store. This includes the colours yellow and red, which are key hallmarks of No Frills.
“Once the store opens and customers are able to experience a No Frills store, we think they will really like the value offered by the store,” Smitham said.
