The Oliver Lioness will once again have lunch ready for the “Cops for Kids” riders when they come  through Oliver on Saturday, Sept.  12.

Come welcome the riders at the Oliver fire hall between 10:30 am and 12:30.  Bring your change to add to the pot. There will be hamburgers and hot dogs for the public – by donation – with all monies going to the riders.

Cops for Kids is a group of dedicated RCMP members and support people of the RCMP South East District that are committed to assisting children that are in medical, physical or traumatic crisis within the Southern Interior region of BC.

The charitable foundation was formed in 2001 (and the Oliver Lioness have worked with them every year) and since inception they have tirelessly worked to raise funds to continue ongoing support to the children in communities that they serve. Cops for Kids are devoted to helping “little hearts” in their communities. Monies coming from a community go back to the community.

Due to the overwhelming number of grant requests, they are unable to meet the demands and have had to establish a wait list of children needing essential medical equipment and therapies.

Their signature event, the Cops for Kids ride, gives them the opportunity to not only showcase their generous sponsors but raise awareness and much needed funds to continue helping children.

This grueling 10-day ride occurs each September over some very challenging areas. They start in Kelowna on September 11, down to Oliver on the 12th, over Anarchist Mountain to Grand Forks, on to the Blueberry Paulson to Creston, up to Golden and Revelstoke and back to Kelowna on September 20.
