Friday’s deadline has passed, and Oliver residents now have a better idea of which people may govern the town’s future.

And this time, their mandate will be four years in length.

Ron Hovanes was not challenged, and has been handed Oliver’s top elected position by acclamation. Hovanes is destined to be Oliver’s Mayor until the 2018 B.C. Municipal election.

Oliver’s four current councillors, Maureen (Mo) Doerr, Jack Bennest, Larry Schwartzenberger and Dave Mattes, are all seeking re-election.

A trio of Oliver residents, Lilly Zekanovic, Jeff Ashe and Petra Veintimilla, are challenging the incumbants for one of the four council positions.

Water Councillors Andre George Miller and Rick Machial have been acclaimed, and will retain their positions.

The B.C. Municipal Election will be held Nov. 15.
