The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a woman who died following an incident at Burnell-Sawmill Lake northwest of Oliver on June 7.
She is Grace Marie Capot-Blanc, aged 54 from Penticton.
Capot-Blanc was camping at the recreational site on the night of June 6-7. Shortly after 2 am, other campers heard the sound of someone in trouble in the water, according to police.
Emergency services were called and the RCMP subsequently discovered Capot-Blanc in the water, about 10 metres from the southwest shore of the lake. Police were able to bring Capot-Blanc to shore; however, she was deceased at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death. Foul play has now been ruled out.
