The Town of Oliver will pay more this year for regional district services – $3,200 more in the draft 2014 budget.
When you consider shared services with Area C, the Town’s tax requisition is $117,000 more than last year, for a total of $1,057,170.
Regional district finance manager Sandy Croteau recently presented Oliver council with a draft of the 2014 budget, specifically touching on what Oliver’s share is.
Croteau said Oliver’s estimated 2014 tax rate is $1.36 per $1,000 of assessed value, which equals $449 per household.
Croteau said factors impacting the RDOS budget include a $1.6 million upgrade to the 9-1-1 emergency system, Frank Venables Theatre debt servicing, and landfill fees.
Under shared services with Area C, Oliver will pay more for refuse disposal ($13,992 more) and parks and recreation ($56,392 more).
