Oliver man faces charges
On September 27 at 11 pm, Osoyoos RCMP observed a white Ford Tempo being driven erratically with no lights on at night.
Police stopped the vehicle and noted a strong smell of marijuana from inside the car. The driver was arrested for possession of marijuana, and the subsequent investigation resulted in the seizure of two, half-pound bags of the drug.
A 23-year-old man from Oliver is facing charges of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
The driver was also found to be under the influence of alcohol while driving and received a three-day immediate roadside driving suspension. His car was also impounded.
Driver punches cop
On September 28 at 2 am, an Osoyoos RCMP officer observed a grey Chevrolet Camaro accelerating quickly and spinning its tires as it turned a corner on Ponderosa Drive.
The officer activated the emergency lights, but the Camaro accelerated beyond the speed limit. The driver of the car eventually pulled over and was investigated for impaired driving. According to police, the driver became uncooperative and attempted to walk away. She allegedly fought with one officer and punched him in the ear. She refused to provide a breath sample.
The 32-year-old Osoyoos woman refused to provide a breath sample and received a 90-day driving prohibition. She also faces an assault charge.
Don’t leave valuables in vehicle
Police have said it a thousand times, but they’ll say it again – don’t leave valuables in your vehicle.
On September 16 an Oliver resident called to report that an iPod, headphones, sunglasses, in-line skates and $50 in cash had been stolen from her vehicle parked in the 7000 block of Highway 97.

Police nab stunt driver
On September 13 police on patrol nabbed a West Kelowna man after he was observed doing a “burnout” on Highway 3 near Cottonwood Drive in Osoyoos.
Police report the 23-year-old was driving a 2008 Ford truck and wouldn’t stop when commanded. The driver drove through a nearby hotel parking lot where the truck crashed into a picnic table.
The driver faces several charges, including impaired driving and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
