The 22nd annual Easter Eggstravaganza takes place Saturday with lots of family fun.

Most events take place at Town Square next to town hall, starting with the Rotary Pancake Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m.

There’s also live music with Mat Duffus throughout.

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. there are children’s games, face painting, petting farm, bounce castle and other activities to keep youngsters busy.

The big event as always is the Easter egg hunt, which takes place at 10 a.m. in the lower schoolyard at Osoyoos Elementary School.

If you go, don’t blink. The candy Easter eggs get scooped up by eager children in a few milliseconds.

Lions Park closed for Easter weekend

Lions Park is under construction over the Easter weekend and is closed to the public. They’re upgrading and replacing playground equipment.

Phones still out at town facilities

Phone service at the Sonora Community Centre, Sun Bowl Arena and Public Works is still on the blink.

The problem started with the power outage that occurred in the early morning hours on March 22.

As of 9 a.m. this morning, the town reported that a technician was to be on site to troubleshoot the problem.

The main town hall number – 250-495-6515 – is working and staff will take messages and relay them by email to the appropriate department.

For those who would rather deal directly with appropriate staff, there’s a list with many email addresses on the town’s website (Osoyoos.ca) under Contact Us.

Alden is retired from the U.S. Coast Guard, has a military background and currently does consulting on risk analysis and operational security.

The Rotary Club of Osoyoos is a very active service club that raises money for many worthy community projects.

They also bring engaging speakers to their weekly Thursday noon meetings.

Rain, rain stay away – during Easter Eggstravaganza

The official Environment Canada forecast for today is showers ending early this morning, mainly cloudy and 30 per cent chance of showers this afternoon. High 10 C.

As we look outside, we see bright sunshine.

For Easter Eggstravaganza, the forecast is now a mix of sun and cloud and high of 12 C.

We hope the rain stays away that day as candy Easter eggs and rain don’t mix well.
