The Osoyoos CIBC and two neighbouring businesses were evacuated Tuesday morning as RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious duffle bag tied to a railing behind the bank.
The businesses were allowed to reopen soon afterwards when the bag was found to contain only garbage.
“At no time did it pose a threat to anyone,” Cpl. Jason Bayda of the Osoyoos RCMP Detachment said in a statement. “It does not appear the bag was left to cause any alarm, however these situations much be treated seriously and with public safety at the forefront.”
