An Osoyoos man has been charged with numerous offences, including communicating through the Internet with a child for sexual purposes.
On Nov. 24, the Osoyoos RCMP received information that an Osoyoos man was communicating through the Internet with a child for sexual purposes.
An investigation then ensued and resulted in the arrest of Shaun David Randall on November 27. Randall attended court in Penticton on Dec. 1 and answered to charges of one count of communication via a computer to lure a child, one count of possessing child pornography and one count of making explicit material available to a child.
Randall was released, but faces numerous court conditions, including not making contact with anyone under the age of 16 years of age; not having any access to the Internet, not possessing any electronic device that could possibly provide access to the Internet; not attending any public place, school, swimming area or facility where persons under the age of 16 may be present; as well as numerous reporting requirements.
Randall’s next court appearance is Dec. 17 at the courthouse in Penticton.
In order to protect the complainant relating to these charges, a publication ban has been ordered which prohibits the release of any information that could possibly identify them.
Corporal Jason Bayda of the Osoyoos RCMP said the RCMP decided to release this media advisory to seek the public’s assistance and to further the ongoing police investigation.
