Trick-or-Treaters will have lots to do in Osoyoos on Halloween this Friday.
New this year is Trick or Treat Main Street where businesses friendly to ghouls, goblins and ghosts are identified with a poster and will provide candy during business hours.
Halloween Howl returns this year to the Sonora Community Centre with activities for younger children in the gym and a haunted house in the basement for braver children.
Trick or Treat Main Street was organized by Osoyoos Credit Union and was the idea of Michelle Quail, business development officer.
Businesses participating reach along Main Street from the Cactus Ridge retirement residences in the west to Family Foods and Johnston Meier Insurance in the east, said Quail.
In addition, several businesses on Spartan Drive just north of the Main Street corner are also participating, she said.
The event runs during business hours, which vary from business to business, and is aimed at pre-school children who can come with adults during the day, as well as school-age children who can come after school.
“I’ve had members of the community come up to me and say they are looking forward to it,” said Quail, adding it’s a great outing for parents with children who are at home.
“Even elderly people are excited to come and hang out downtown and do some shopping as well as seeing all the kids in costumes. I think the families are really going to enjoy this event.”

The Town of Osoyoos organizes the Halloween Howl event, which will run from from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Sonora Community Centre.
