Dear Editor:
During the recent fire at the base of Anarchist Mountain, the Osoyoos Fire Department did an outstanding job of getting the fire under control and subsequently putting it out.
The day was very windy and I had visions of a repetition of the fire on the mountain 10 years ago when several dwellings and pets were lost. Fortunately, the Osoyoos Fire Department, along with help of the brave pilots from Forestry, were able to stop the flames from spreading.
Anarchist Mountain Fire Department should also be praised. Within minutes of the smoke being visible, the members were mobilized and quickly spread out in the community to prepare homeowners in case the fire did leap up the mountain.
Thank you to all volunteer firefighters who leave their jobs and homes to keep the rest of us safe.
